A pilgrimage on marian soil
Normandy has been privileged to experience visits from the Virgin Mary. The reliquary from Lourdes will be venerated particularly in Mayenne, the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Pontmain and the Basilica of Our Lady of Miracles Mayenne, and in the Marian Centre of Le Havre. The cathedrals of the Trinity of Laval, of Our Lady of the Thorn, in Evron, as well as the Basilica of St. Therese of Lisieux will open their doors to welcome the relics.
Bernadette eagerly anticipated among the religious communities
Bernadette Soubirous, who became Sister Marie-Bernard, would have been so happy to be able to go on a mission to serve the poor, to evangelise. Her sickness prevented her from doing so. During the 13th apparition, on 2nd March 1858, the beautiful lady asked her, “Go and tell the priests to come here in procession …” Bernadette will soon be visiting the Brothers of the Cotellerie, the Carmelites in Caen, and the Benedictines of Bayeux …

A Bernadette year in Lourdes
As part of the Bernadette year, the 175th anniversary of her birth and the 140th of her death, this veneration is an opportunity for diocesan hospitality to publicise their pilgrimage to Lourdes which is always rich in blessings for the pilgrims who go.
In Lourdes, this year, the relics of Saint Bernadette will be in the spotlight. A time of veneration will be offered twice a week, after the International Mass on Wednesdays and Sundays. In addition, the reliquary will continue its travels in Europe with new stopovers in Italy and Spain.
