Why spend Easter in Lourdes?
In Lourdes, Holy Week is a spiritual journey towards the light of Easter. The Stations of the Cross, one of the Sanctuary’s highlights, gives pilgrims the opportunity to meditate on the Passion of Christ, particularly on the Espélugues mountain. By walking with Mary and Jesus, pilgrims prepare to welcome the Resurrection.
This year, Easter is part of the Jubilee Year 2025 and its theme ‘With Mary, pilgrims of hope’. Celebrating Easter at Lourdes means responding to this call to hope, in communion with the faithful from all over the world.
Easter also marks the launch of the pilgrimage season. From Holy Week onwards, Lourdes once again becomes a gathering place where pilgrims, the sick and hospitaliers come to pray and to entrust their intentions to the Virgin Mary.
Lourdes invites you to celebrate Holy Week in the very heart of the Sanctuary.
