An ordinary family, an extraordinary adventure. This is the story of a family of 7 children and their expedition along the roads of France. A 1000 km trek by bike to Lourdes in 15 days. The Lucas family left the Loire-Atlantique on 31st July and arrived in the Marian city on 15th August the feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. In Lourdes, the Lucas family lit candles for the intentions of all those who had asked for their prayers. It was a very emotional moment.The Lucas family was delighted to be cycling in aid of the Mécénat Chirurgie Cardiaque association (which offers life-saving heart surgery to children whose families are unable to afford it.) Their combined distance of 9000 km (1000 X 9) was converted into euros. The money raised will allow a child to have their operation. Nicolas and Cinderella, the parents of the Lucas family, have a saying: “Joy and adventure are within everyone’s reach, if we decide to choose them!” What made them decide? “We do not know what tomorrow will bring. Let’s enjoy this time together. Our children won’t be children for ever. “
